Mainland Stoneworks began as Mainland Custom Marble, Inc. which was established in League City, Texas by Johnny Helpenstill and Darwin Miller. What began in 1982, with three employees and a minimal amount of manufacturing equipment, has evolved into one of the leading countertop installation companies in the Greater Houston area today.

In an effort to meet the growing demand for natural stone, wood and marble countertops in Houston, Mainland Custom Marble relocated to our present location in Alvin, Texas in 2000 with a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility – and in 2006, Johnny Helpenstill and Beverly Miller transitioned the ownership of the company to Kevin Bertelsman.

Our Ownership

Kevin, an alumnus of The University of Texas with a degree in chemical engineering, worked with The Dow Chemical Company for 15 years in various manufacturing positions throughout Texas and Louisiana. His extensive knowledge of manufacturing and installation is a perfect fit for the company.

In April 2009, Mainland Custom Marble was pleased to announce the acquisition of Countertops Unlimited. Countertops Unlimited is a leading supplier of kitchen countertops in Texas and Louisiana. Later, Kenny Pierce became our company Granite Division Director, growing our granite countertop services extensively.

Now, as Mainland Stoneworks, our company offers high quality customer assistance and consultation, as well as showroom consultants to assist our customers in making design selections in our product showroom.
