#Cooker Hoods and Cheap Cooker Hood Deals Or Shop By.Special Offers - Cooker HoodsCooker Hoods - Need to know:It needs to be the same width as your cooker or hob (e.g. if you have a 60cm cooker or hob you will need a 60cm cooker hood) and also needs to be directly above your hob. It should be within reach of an electricity supply and if you choose vented, you will need access to an exterior wall. The rate of extraction you require depends on the size of your kitchen. The bigger the room, the more air will be in the room, thus you need a higher rate of extraction. A faster rate of extraction leads to cleaner air but also means more noise something you may not notice so much in a large kitchen. Recirculation hoods draw the air into the appliance through carbon filters to neutralise odours and remove grease, the clean air is then passed back out. This requires cleaning of the grease traps. A vented extractor filters air through a metal filter before releasing through an outside vent, similarly the metal filter will need cleaning. When fitting the cooker hoods, you ll need to position it at a minimum of 75cm above a gas hob or 65cm above an electric hob. Some angled extractors can be installed lower than 65cm, but please refer to the user manual if you have any height restrictions.
