Kitchen Units | German Kitchens | Schmid Kitchens London

Everyone is different which is why our kitchens are designed to fit not just the space but also the user. We have a wide range of standard dimensions and we can also make our units in custom sizes for the perfect fit!

The flexible dimensions of our kitchen units means you can have a kitchen that fits you as well as the space you have available.

Our base kitchen units come in two different heights – 715 and 780mm. The 780mm base units are larger than the standard available in the UK. This means our 780mm kitchen units give you more storage space in your kitchen. You can have a plinth height from as little as 100mm right up to 200mm, which depending on which base unit system you choose give you a worktop height between 855mm and 1020mm. Our grid system for heights within the kitchen units ensures clean horizontal lines for base, tall and wall units can be maintained through any of our kitchen designs.

715mm base units

The 715mm base unit system has five grids of 130mm each and a semi-grid of 65mm. We have four different cupboard depths of 350, 460, 560 and 660mm. The 715mm unit system has kitchen worktop heights between 854 and 954mm.

Our wall units come in six different heights of 390, 520, 650, 715, 780 and 910mm and are all 350mm deep which means you can use them to store larger plates. We have various options for lighting up the worktop, including LED lighting integrated into the base of the wall units.

Our splashback panel system is supplied in two standard heights 481 and 546 mm. We can also make custom heights to match the demands and design of your kitchen.

Our splashbacks are available in glass, high gloss melamine in different colours, and wood laminate or stone effect. We have a metal rail storage system with accessories including knife blocks and hangers so your splashback can be transformed into a storage space in your kitchen.

Our high quality extends behind the kitchen front. Contur® continuously refine the quality of their units to make them even better. Our kitchens have been awarded the GS-quality label (which assures proven quality and safety standards specified by various acts and European guidelines) and, since September 2009, the quality certificate EN ISO 9001:2008 showing that we have defined, established and continuously maintained an effective quality assurance system throughout the manufacturing process.

Our base units are very robust and use a double-sided laminated back panel that is screwed and glued to the side panels to prevent warping or rattling noises. They are strengthened through the use of solid wood cross beams that carry the worktop. The ventilation gap between the back of the unit and wall contribute to the longevity of your kitchen. Adjustable feet ensure that uneven floors can accommodate our precisely engineered kitchens. The plinth has an elastic leak proof profile to make for easy cleaning.

Our wall units provide optimal stability to accommodate heavy loads. The mountings are concealed. All interior shelves are 19mm thick. Glass shelves are made of safety glass that is securely anchored. Doors, whether pivot doors, upwards folding doors or the standard doors all have a full metal hinge with a soft close mechanism. Our wall units also come with integrated lighting giving your kitchen a very clean look.

Contur® have PEFC certification, a quality assurance symbol, signalling the companys handling of the indispensable raw material, wood. The focus of the PEFC initiative is on the preservation of the ecological equilibrium of our forests and a controlled work and supply chain. These values are important in the manufacturing of our kitchens and we hope for you too.
