All the small space goodness from last month inspired me to make some tweaks and additions to make my small Brooklyn kitchen more serviceable and user-friendly (especially since I am its primary user). 1. Over-the-Stove Cutting Board: small kitchens are a challenge not just for storing things but for actually cooking. Whether you have a lot of workspace in your kitchen, or just a little, keeping your countertop neat and organized is paramount. Select an old bedroom dresser that is waist high. It should have at least two drawers for storing towels and other kitchen supplies.

Remove all hardware from the dresser and sand lightly. Err on the side of caution and sand in a well ventilated are (preferably outside) in case of lead paint.
