If you loaned a bank $100,000 at a 5% interest rate, compounded annually, the bank would pay you $5,000 per year. So why can't you get a $100,000 mortgage and pay the bank $5,500 a year, let them earn a 10% profit? The reason is that traditional mortgages are designed so you end up owning the house when the mortgage is paid off. Our simple example above would apply to an "interest only" mortgage, where you are really just renting the house from the bank. After 30 years, zero equity. It's the reverse of your loaning $100,000 to the bank and earning $5,000 per year in interest. The bank doesn't get to keep your $100,000, they're just paying for the use of it. We only specify Blum hardware and it is not stiff or difficult to pull.

Many of the less expensive soft-close drawer hardware lacks the engineering and design, which is why it is less expensive and also more difficult to use.

When we attend trade shows we constantly open drawers on display to see if they are using good hardware. Many of the companies touting their wares are not. We pass on those.

When I started cooking as a personal chef I had to put together a second kitchen I could take to my clients houses. For the most part this was straightforward, but the appliances were an issue. I didnt want to buy a second food processor or a second mixer, nor did I want to have to haul them around. So I decided to look at a tool I had previously seen no need for: an immersion blender.

I settled on the Kitchen Aid blender because it offered a whip attachment and a food processor attachment.

My hope was it would cover three jobs and for the most part it does.
