#PK Grills Team from Little Rock Arkansas

Categories

At PK, we like to smoke our ribs. The process of it reminds us to slow down and enjoy life because we know that if we are not careful we will miss out on the good stuff. Moving fast is often ok necessary even. But unchecked, fast can lead to inferior products and unsatisfying experiences which is why we cook our ribs slow and pour each cast aluminum PK by hand.

We have noticed a change in the air as peoples tastes turn back toward living more balanced lives outdoors, with friends and family investing in good things and keeping them longer. We want our products to reflect those (our) ideals.

It all starts with the food, from the alchemy of a great dry rub to the subtle and patient process of slow cooking a fine cut of meat. We cherish the memories and amazing food we make with our PK s in our backyards, on the water, at a football tailgate or campground. This is the tradition of PK dating back to 1952, but what it stands for is alive now more than ever.

In the early 1950 s, Hilton Meigs of Tyler Texas created the cast aluminum Portable Kitchen grill and sold it successfully around the mid-south. By the late 1990 s the Portable Kitchen was no longer readily available for sale, however the venerable durability of the grill ensured that thousands of them still existed in perfect working order when a local attorney stumbled across one in Little Rock, Arkansas.

In 1998, grill enthusiast Paul James discovered a PK Grill at a yard sale. Paul had very fond memories of his uncles cooking on PK s during his youth, and he vividly remembered them always saying it was the best grill ever made, a sentiment he heard countless times from strangers he came across over the years since. His interest sparked. He researched and purchased the Portable Kitchen trade name, and decided to revive this classic product. Paul and his sister, Martha James, began producing sparkling new aluminum PK s from castings of the original product, and along the way they were joined by jack-of-all-things, Avery Allen. After a twenty year hiatus, PK was back in business in Little Rock. Over 60 years since its inception, the PK s today are nearly identical to the one Hilton Meigs made all those years ago.

Recently, a few other fellows entered the PK story. Brian Taylor, Jeff Humiston and Scott Moody were all successful executives at a large tech company when it was acquired by a larger tech company, leaving them with a choice. With a collective 40 years of fast-paced C-level and executive experience between them, it seemed likely that each would find opportunity elsewhere within the lucrative technology sector. The next move was clear to the three of them, but it wasn t the obvious choice. They wanted to own a business. Make stuff by hand. Be a part of a community. Employ local people. And have fun.

The trio joined the PK team and today PK Grills is re-defining its classic brand for a new generation of outdoor cooking enthusiasts with product line enhancements, an updated web presence, and increased distribution (Find a Retailer ).

We make PK s because we appreciate quality ourselves. We make PK's because its just cool to say that our handmade American product lasts for generations. We make PK s because we enjoy the experience of cooking awesome food outside with our friends and family. We make PK's because we love to hear the stories from our customers around the world.

And we are proud of every PK we make.

Signed,
