kitchen stool

kitchen stool | Tumblr

Before and after ombre and masonite kitchen step stool.

We had done another stool like this in all hammered silver paint and a yellow vinyl on both steps so we decided to take a different approach and do an ombre style paint with the bright green fading into the silver and instead of doing a fabric on the steps we used masonite board to give it a more modern industrial feel.

Not Sleeping, Part 2

Love you guys this is the second and (probably) final part! Let me know what you think!

Taylor jolted awake she remembered something, what was it? She searched through her tired brain what had she forgotten? The cats were taken care of for the next few days, the cars had been ordered, she had just talked to her mom and dad last night Taylor mentally went through everything she remembered and was left wanting. What was is? What was she forgetting?

She suddenly sat up in bed quickly and ran downstairs. She checked and yup, she had turned off the oven, locked the door. She puzzled over it for a minute, then decided to write it down. She pulled out a kitchen stool and started making a list on her phone. This wasn t unusual. When you re as busy as she was, some things were bound to slip through the cracks. She keeps writing things down, but everything had been handled. Wait was it someone s birthday?

Taylor sighed in relief, yes that was it. One of her close friends had a birthday the next day. She put a reminder in her phone to send them flowers. But even though Taylor had figured out what the issue was, she couldn t go back to sleep. She paced for a bit, feeling wired. She petted Olivia for a bit, but she got up and moved rooms, and Taylor didn t follow her.

She remembered Adam had asked her to wake him if she couldn t sleep, and she thought that was sweet of him, but that s the kind of thing people say who actually wanted to be woken up at three AM? Taylor knew it was hard for her to trust people, she knew that. And she trusted Adam. But if she let him see just how broken, how strange she was, would he really stick around? She paced for a bit longer, then decided screw it. What were they doing if not being as open as possible? What would be the point?

She climbed back upstairs and slid back into bed next to Adam. He was sleeping so soundly, and she didn t want to wake him she knew he had a crazy day later, he had to be awake and prepared. But he had asked her to.

She lightly tapped him in his arm. She figured if he didn t wake up, at least she tried. She held her breath, and for a moment it looked like he was gonna remain asleep. Then he stirred slowly. Hmm? What s going on? He turned his head to face her, his voice heavy with sleep. Taylor felt so guilty, he sounded so tired. She almost let him fall back asleep.

Adam? I woke up and I can t fall back asleep. She whispered softly. Adam opened his eyes and sat up quickly, rubbing the blurriness out of his eyes. Taylor rushed out, Sorry, I really didn t want to wake you, but you told me I should, so.. Adam cut her off and reached over, kissing her softly. It s fine, don t worry, I asked you to wake me, he yawned, sitting up against the headboard. It s fine, really, he assured her, noticing the guilt in her eyes.

Taylor nodded, feeling like she was entering a different space, a space she hadn t brought anyone else into before. Being up late at night had always been her time to work out her feeling on her own on guitar usually. Before she would have never woken anyone not even for parents. And now she was with Adam, who was awake in this in-between space, the space between night and day, this space were she was the most vulnerable, the most honest.

Adam sat there, expectant. And she didn t know what to say. The two of them sat in silence for a while, and while it might have been strange for some, it helped Taylor. They sat together, Adam s hand in hers, and he rubbed circles into her hand soothingly. I forgot someone s birthday is tomorrow well, today, Taylor blurted out after a while. Adam nodded, but just looked at her. It s important I don t forget that stuff, you know, just cause I m some big pop star, you can t forget important things like that, you know? She rambled to Adam as he continued to soothe her with his hand. Sure, that stuff important, Adam agreed, noticing Taylor s vulnerability in this moment. He wondered if she had ever tried to explain herself like this to anyone else before. He kind of felt like she hadn t. She looked so uncertain, like she wasn t sure if this was what you were supposed to do.

Taylor continued to talk, about friendships, how important they are to her, how she never wanted to lose that, how she was afraid of losing everything and everyone and ending up sad and alone, like so many people did. As she talked, Adam pulled her in next to him, her head in his shoulder, his arm behind her, offering support. He rubbed her shoulder and arm soothingly, rhythmically. After a while, Taylor s voice slowly slowed down until she had fallen back asleep. Adam slid them both down until they were lying on the bed. He wrapped his arm around her, and held her close to him, trying to transmit strength and love through his body into hers.

The next morning, Adam woke up first. For a while, he just lay there and looked at Taylor. Something had changed in their relationship last night, he could feel it. They were deeper somehow. More in sync. When he moved to get up and make breakfast, Taylor stirred. Hey beautiful, Adam said smiling. Hey, Taylor said, a half smile on her face. Adam slid over and kissed her softly. Breakfast? He asked, resting his head in her stomach. Taylor nodded, then stretched her arms. Adam got up to put on some clothes and head downstairs, and as he stood Taylor called out. Adam? He turned. Yeah? Taylor looked a little sheepish. Thanks for last night. Adam smiled. Anytime, love."

After about ten minutes, Taylor padded downstairs and wandered into the kitchen. "Hey, breakfast in bed get out! Adam called out when he saw her, waving the frying pan. She giggled and didn t listen. She walked over to him and slid her arms around him from behind. And she felt it. Their relationship had changed overnight almost imperceptibly, but it was there. She didn t need to say it she knew he felt it to. He turned around and pulled her in for a hug, and then they were swaying, half dressed and no music playing, slow dancing. Taylor closed her eyes, and moved slowly, keeping time to his heartbeat. The two of them just danced for a while, putting everything out of their minds as they held one another and thought only of each other, only of this moment.
