Capacities of saucepans may also have to be changed to meet individual needs, and other changes in the list will no doubt be made for the same reason. No large equipment such as worktable, range, sink, or service wagon is included on this list, nor have we included equipment for cleaning.

Let’s get started.

How much should a new decent kitchen cost?

The cost of a new kitchen will depend on three main factors: the size of your kitchen, the extent of the refit and the quality of materials and appliances used.

There are so many factors to take into account when refitting a kitchen that it is hard to assess exactly what the cost will be. New kitchens can range from a few hundred pounds to tens of thousands of pounds.

If your budget is low, it is possible to pick up a low cost kitchen from retailers such as Ikea and B Q. For medium budgets a local kitchen supplier is likely to offer good value, whilst if you have plenty to spend then a specialist, bespoke kitchen designer may be your choice.

The price of a new kitchen will depend on the extent of the work. If you plan to rip out the existing kitchen and start from scratch, you could end up paying up to 6,000 for kitchen cabinets, 3,000 for work surfaces and 1,500 for appliances. This is in addition to the labour cos ... Read more »

Kitchen Cabinet Storage Features

Efficient and accessible use of space is a great benefit when working in a kitchen. Today's kitchen cabinets are designed to meet a variety of these storage space needs. The interiors can be accessorized so that even the smallest nooks and crannies are usable.

Kitchen pantry cabinets are an excellent way to integrate a custom look in your kitchen. These pantry options often have units that slide or fold out and are best for dry goods or canned goods. They may be either full height or fit into a base cabinet.

One of the common problems in a kitchen is what to do with dead corner space. Corner cabinets are available to use this space to advantage. Lazy Susans in the corners are a wonderful way to store pots or products that you need easy access to. There are also corner cabinets with shelves that turn and slide out. Open Kitchen Cabinet Ideas | eHow

Paint the inside of your cabinets a different color from the outside for a fun and contrasting look. Go with a neutral for a more sophisticated look or choose a bright color of your choice for a fun and casual look. Use spacers every few inches and stand plates up on their side instead of stacking them. This gives a different look and changes the way you put your dishes away!

If you have a set of china that you take out, polish and only use on special occasions, think about putting it on display. Keep your favorite china stacked or standing up on its side (spaced out by wood slats). Make sure to keep the "special occasion" dishes away from the "daily use" dishes so no one takes them out by accident. Open cabinets can work with a variety of kitchen styles and offer you a way to display your dishes of choice. This can work in a country kitchen, a cafe style kitchen or any decor where you want to show off your good taste in dishes!

Tomorrow we ve got Jack Bishop and Bridget Lancaster of America s Test Kitchen here to give you cooking tips on turkey, stuffing, potatoes, pies (and more) for Thanksgiving !

How To Make The Perfect Steak

I rarely cook steaks these days. Don’t get me wrong: there’s nothing quite like a juicy, dry aged, 100% grass fed slab of meaty perfection. But let’s face it: prime cuts like steak are pricey. So when I throw down a stack of bills in exchange for the best meat I can afford, there’s no way I’m going to take my chances with an unreliable recipe. My mama didn’t raise no sucker.

Longtime readers know that back in the day, I was all about cooking steaks (and, well…just about everything else) sous vide. And sure—cooking with a temperature-controlled water bath guarantees a properly-cooked steak every time. But as many of you have pointed out, not everyone has an immersion circulator o ... What Is a Kitchen Extractor Fan? | eHow

A kitchen extractor fan is typically installed over the stove to expel fumes, smoke and aromas from the kitchen. The fan is typically enclosed in a canopy, and is attached to one or more motors, depending on the type of kitchen extractor fan that you want to install in your house.

Kitchen extractor fans are primarily used for pulling out smoke generated from cooking. Some extractor fans have a small, chimney-like appliance, which extracts odors and fumes. There are others that may be able to filter the air and circulate it around the kitchen. These types of extractor fans have charcoal filters.

There are four main types of extractor fans. Axial fans can move air over short distances. Centrifugal fans can move air over long distances by creating high pressures, which allow the air to travel further and faster. Mixed flow fans have features of both axial and centrifugal fans. Recirculating range fans filter the air using charcoa ... Read more »

my personal top 20 European kitchen brands | european-kitchen-design.com

After many requests and lots of diliberations I ve decided to post my own top 20 European brands. Top 20 European kitchen companies, because I simply felt that there are too many great European kitchen brands to limit the list to just top 10.

My Top 20 is based on the following criteria s:

  • DESIGN overall product design, esthetics and selection depth (colors, materials, design elements, etc.).
  • PRODUCT INNOVATION is this a kitchen brand that takes risks, that is on the cutting edge of technology and innovates or just a company that copies others?
  • PRODUCT QUALITY how well made is the product? Does the company cuts corners ?
  • SERVICE delivery on time, delivers complete orders, after sale service, etc.

I have chosen not to take into consideration COMPANY SIZE, as there is no real direct benefit to the buyer and I ve already listed the 10 largest Eu ... Read more »

Borscht Kitchen Studio

My first memorable encounter with borscht was at a pot-luck party I had in San Francisco, in which my friend Elisabeth brought a huge, must have been 12 or 16-quart, pot of drop-dead delicious, deep purply red soup filled with beets. Elisabeth’s grandparents were Ukrainian, and I think borscht was one of her favorite soups to make. Every time I make or eat borscht I think of my friend and the discovery of how good a soup made primarily of beets can be.

The wind is howling outside, if any leaves remain on the trees they are sure to come down today. Here is a wonderfully satisfying beet borscht, perfect for a cold weather day.

  • 8 cups beef broth*
  • 1 pound slice of meaty bone-in beef shank
  • 1 large onion, peeled, quartered
  • 4 large beets, peeled, chopped
  • 4 carrots, peeled, chopped
  • 1 large russet potato, peeled, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
