What is a Kitchen Display System?
Have you ever wondered how a restaurant times all of its orders perfectly? The answer is easy: a kitchen display system.
A kitchen display system (KDS) is like having a full-time traffic director working in the kitchen. It tells you when the orders are received, routes them to the proper stations, and warns the kitchen staff when something has been on the screen too long.
Although it depends on your kitchen setup, the kitchen display system can also serve as a quality control monitor by displaying the dish and a list of ingredients for the sake of continuity. This ensures that diners enjoy the same delicious experience every time they visit.
What are the components?
The kitchen display system connects to the point of sale terminal and consists of software, a durable monitor to display the orders, a bump bar to scroll through them and a controller.
It’s important that the controller be heat an

Refinishing Kitchen Cabinet Step by Step
Refinishing kitchen cabinets may have crossed your mind if your kitchen cabinets are outdated, worn-out looking, or just grimy and dull. You may have even considered replacing your kitchen cabinets with new ones, but you may discover that the project will be costlier and more disruptive to your household than you thought, so this may be a good time to consider a refinishing kitchen cabinet project instead. It’s far less complicated and more economical than buying new cabinets, and the results may be more impressive than you expected.
To begin your kitchen cabinet refinishing project, make sure you’re working in a well-ventilated area, and wear gloves. Remove food and dishes from the cabinets, or cover them with sheet plastic. Removing the cabinets from the walls is optional; if you do, be sure to label them, so you can replace them correctly.
Now you have some choices. You can strip off the old stain and apply new stain, or y

Kitchen Stove Parts
From the no-frills versions to the commercial-grade models, all kitchen stoves have essentially the same parts. Here's how to get to know your main cooking appliance. inside and out.
Burners: The most basic stoves have four burners. Burner size differs depending on the model. Bigger burners can distribute heat to larger pots more quickly. Most cooktops feature a mix of high and low heat output. Some cooktops may have an accessory that allows you to combine burners next to each other for a larger cooking surface.
Burner Covers: Burners appear differently based on both the fuel source and stove type. Gas burners come in sealed or open setups. Open burners will reach maximum heat quickly, but sealed burners keep pans closer to the flame and are easier to clean. Electric burners are sealed under a ceramic-glass cooktop surface. It's a burner capped with a metal disk, like the cap on a mushroom. The disk prevents spills from dribbling in

Choosing The Right Kitchen Benchtop Modern Kitchen Design by Wonderful Kitchens
Kitchen benchtops truly add the finishing touch to a kitchen, so it makes sense to choose one that suits your style, adds functionality and is aesthetically pleasing. There is a myriad of choices out there, so listed below is a description on some of the more common benchtop types to try and make things a bit easier.
Two major factors will influence the design of your benchtop and those are personal choice and your budget, with different materials varying in price. The kitchen benches are the first thing that you see when you enter a kitchen and are the most visually dominating element so it is important that you choose a material that matches your existing decor and that suits your lifestyle. For example, if you are a serious cook, you may be better off with a heat and scratch resistant material such as a quartz based stone benchtop, rather than a laminate which cannot take heat at all.

Resurfacing Kitchen Cabinets
Kitchen cabinets are one of the most visible parts of the kitchen, and as such, we want them to look beautiful and attractive all the time. However, with the passage of time, they lose their charm, and begin to look dull. In such a scenario, you would have to either replace them with new ones or resurface them. If the structure of the old cabinets are in good condition, then there is no need to replace them. Rather, resurfacing them can be a better option, mainly because it is less expensive. By resurfacing, we mean changing the existing surface of the cabinet with the help of a new coat of paint or veneer.
One of the simplest and most versatile ways of resurfacing is painting. It gives you ample amount of scope to use your creative ideas to make the cabinets look beautiful. You can use different colors for the doors and the rims of the cabinets, and use techniques like stenciling, sponging, rag rolling, and color washing to decorate them furthe

WebMuseum: Vermeer, Jan: The Kitchen Maid
Vermeer, Jan
The Kitchen Maid
c. 1658; Oil on canvas, 45.5 x 41 cm; Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam
With quiet concentration a woman pours milk into a bowl. With her left hand she supports the can she is pouring from. Around her are various objects: a loaf of bread, a stoneware jug, a basket and a brass bucket. The woman is standing near the window so she can see what she is doing. The light falls on her hands; her silhouette is dark against the white wall. There is a fascinating play of light and shadow in this painting. This is one of Johannes Vermeer's genre pieces in which he establishes an intensely intimate atmosphere. Although the artist observes his model from nearby, she continues with her work, totally unperturbed.
Subtle lighting
The lighting in Vermeer's Milkmaid is extraordinarily subtle. Light falls from the left through the window. Beneath and beside the window it is somewhat shadowy, but

Designing Tile Backsplash for Kitchen
As we have to spend a long time inside a kitchen for cooking and other household chores, it is essential that we maintain the look of our kitchen. If your kitchen has a shabby look, I am sure you would not like to stay there for long. The backsplash area is a very small one. Therefore, you get a lot of scope to experiment with several kitchen backsplash tile designs with a relatively small investment. Designing a tile backsplash will also provide protection to the underlying wall which is otherwise exposed to so much of splash during the daily cooking.
Ideas for Kitchen Tile Backsplash
Backsplash tiles are the most preferred ones because of the simple reason that they have a wide range of variety. It has so many varieties of shades, texture, style and color. There are other reasons as well, like they can be installed very easily.

Ninja Kitchen System 1200 Review
Appliance combinations seem to be all the rage these days, and why not? If you can combine several into one, it cost-effective, saves on storage space. and streamlines kitchen duties. However, in order to be worth it, that all-in-one gizmo will need to function reasonably as well as the individual appliances to be replaced. With this caveat in mind, I set out to test the Ninja Kitchen System 1200 BL700 Series, the latest Euro-Pro version of its blender/food processor combination.
Pros:
• Powerful 1100-watt motor.
• Oversized 72-ounce pitcher.
• 40-ounce processor bowl.
• Speeds: Dough (1), blend (2), ice crush (3), and pulse.
• 3-tiers of blender blades (6 blades in all).
• Includes whipping attachment, dough blade, dough paddle.
• Snap-lock cover for pouring spout.
• Ninja Helpline for questions: 1 (877) 646-5288.

I never review items on here, even if there great.
I just noticed some people stating that their lighter does not produce a blow torch like flame, but rather like the flame from a lighter.
All the views stating it doesn't work are incorrect. All you need to do is screw it all the way back to the body of the lighter.
SORTED!

Wood vs. Laminate Kitchen Cabinets | eHow
Wood cabinets are not entirely made with solid wood. The majority of cabinetry relies on a combination of plywood and hardwood solids. Laminate cabinets are build with medium-density laminate -- a combination of wood byproducts and resin glued together under heat and hydraulic pressure. Durable plastic is laminated to both sides to produce solid sheets of material that's cut and assembled into cabinets.
When properly cared for, laminate cabinets have longevity, but wooden cabinets typically last longer. Laminate itself is very tough. It's hard to dent or scratch. Problems occur when edges or corners of laminate lift slightly. Once the glue loosens under the laminate it can get worse. It's difficult to reattach with any real success. The problem is worsened by high humidity, causing laminate to loosen at a faster rate. Wood cabinets also expand and contract with changing humidity. It can be an issue with raised-panel doors, but most

Easier Fried ChickenTaking On Magazines
If you want me to learn something, let me do it. Experiential learning is my best teacher.
That may be one of the reasons I am such a fan of Mario Batali. At one point in his culinary teaching he went to Italy to learn to cook Italian food. He didn attend some culinary school for the experience, however. Nope. Instead, he lived in a small town and cooked along the people there. He embedded himself in the community, culture and cuisine.
When I moved down to North Carolina I discovered Carolina barbecue (be still my heart) and stood by experienced barbecuers until I had the method down. Collard greens? A little lady named Maxine showed me her tried-and-true (and delicious) method for making them and I was right there next to her while she did it.
Fried chicken has continued to elude me, however. Ive had conversation after conversation with people about making it and am always told the same thing; Oh, I can make it like m

Kitchen Work Surfaces
By Robert Musgrave | Submitted On July 09, 2007
Never has there been a greater choice of work surface materials used in the kitchen. Each of which have their own advantages and disadvantages.
Laminate work surfaces have been the industry standard over the last forty years. The base material is usually a 30 mm or 40 mm high density particle board with a melamine laminate covering. This covering extends over the back and front edges leaving only middle underneath strip of exposed chipboard. There are a wide range of colors and patterns available even granite and wood imitations.
This material is inexpensive, very easy to work with, requiring the minimum of tools to complete a single board installation. Areas around any cutout ( for hob, sink etc ) must be well sealed to prevent ingress of water which is fatal to this type of material.
Modern wood surfaces are composed of 'splinters' of natural wood essentially glued toget

French Kitchen Island in French Kitchen Dining Tables | Crate and Barrel
Elegant marble-top island translates French style into a timeless design that evokes the charm of an Old World pastry shop. Practical and beautiful, the white marble top sits on a classically inspired metal base. Learn More Prized for its natural grey-white veining and used for centuries for sculptures and flooring, the kitchen island's Carrara marble top is an attractive surface for prepping dishes and hosting casual meals. The cast steel and aluminum base, with an antiqued hand-finish, provides dramatic counterpoint with its slender legs, ornamental details and traditional cross bracing. The kitchen island is anchored by a shelf styled like a baker's rack to stow pots, cookbooks or baking supplies. Towel racks on either end provide a convenient place for dishtowels. The French Kitchen Island is a Crate and Barrel exclusive.
Keep it looking its best.
At Crate and Barrel, we take great pride in

Gourmet Burger Kitchen Diner London (Clapham)
Other branches of Gourmet Burger Kitchen in London:
Shocked to see the bad review of the vegetarian options below. I'm a meat lover but more than half the time I go to GBK, I end up having one of the vegetarian burgers because I like them so much. I always thought GBK was one of the 'best kept secrets' of vegetarian food.
However, GBK don't do the 'vegetables/soy pretending to be meat' thing which some people like. Personally I think vegetables are great and at their best when being vegetables, not pretending to be meat. But, of course, I'm happy to accept that other people do like that sort of thing.
Give it a go for yourself and see what you think. Would be really interesting to see what other people thought of the vegetarian options. Me - love them (though there is one of them I don't like. can't remember what it is called).
Useful review?

Kitchen Splashback
An often-overlooked aspect of kitchen style and d cor is the kitchen splashback. The effect, however, can be truly stunning, and glass panels wipe down quickly to make clean-up a snap. Some manufacturers even carry stainless steel tiles, combining the greater affordability of tile with the modern look of steel.Stainless steel splashbacks can be used directly behind the stove and sink, while the rest of the splashback is finished in tile mosaic or glass.
The kitchen splashback area is a golden opportunity to jazz up a tired and outdated kitchen without having to spend a fortune on complete renovations. Using mosaic tile allows the home handyman free reign to indulge his or her creative urges. Depending on your budget, you are ready to purchase enough materials to complete a mosaic tile kitchen splashback for as little as a few of hundred dollars.
Before you start buying materials and engaging tradesmen, think about the style concept that you

Yellow Kitchen Dresser - Mommy Envy
I am so excited to share my new kitchen dresser with you! We have a very limited amount of cabinet and counter space in our kitchen. When we have people over its a constant battle between having buffet style or have everything on the table style. If you have this problem or had this problem please share advice!
My last attempt at a dresser redo, or any furniture redo, was a piece we picked up free on the side of the road. It wasn wood and I thought I could cover up everything with a coat of paint and call it good. Boy was I wrong! Once I spray painted it the circular sanding squiggles revealed themselves. Note: You can cover those up! You have to sand them out with a fine grit. That led me to cover it with gift wrap and Mod Podge. Before you cringe it could have been cute but after cutting 1 in by 1 in squares and Mod Podging each one on you kind of lose your creative drive. I wanted to leave the darn thing in Utah when we moved but the h

Glass Kitchen Splashbacks | Brisbane
Glass splashbacks are extremely easy to keep hygienically clean and spotless. Low maintenance glass splashbacks are not only extremely durable and resilient, but glass splashbacks also impervious to stains and smears, which means no more scrubbing with harsh chemicals to remove the mold, fats and grease which readily adhere to grout, porous tiles and stainless steel wall coverings.
Aesthetically, glass splashbacks present a far superior finish than other alternatives. The reflective nature of glass will not only bring light and a sense of space into even the most cramped of kitchens, but will also add ambience to a room that may otherwise be lacking.
Coloured glass splashbacks offer freedom to choose the perfect colour, whether youd like a flat or a bright metallic; splashbacks are the ideal modern solution to enhance the look of any home. Not only will Vista Glass offer you a wide selection of sample colours to choose from, but
