How to Install False Door Fronts on Kitchen Drawers | eHow Drill four countersunk pilot holes into the front of the drawer, one at each corner. Once finished, use a screwdriver to screw the false front mounting screws into the drawer. Screw the mounting screws from the inside of the drawer. The screw tips should just barely show through the front of the drawer. Place the drawer into the cabinet. Place the false drawer front into the drawer opening and shim it on all four sides with pennies so that the drawer front has an even gap on all sides and line ups with adjoining drawers. Press the shimmed drawer front into the screw tips that are protruding from the drawer. You want the screws to leave a slight mark on the back side of the false front. Remove the false drawer front. Using the marks left by the screws as a guide, drill pilot holes into the back of the false drawer front. Remove the drawer from the cabinet and remove the mounting screws from the inside of the drawer. Apply wood glue to the space where the false front will be attached to the drawer. This will strengthen the drawer front. Match up the holes on the drawer with the holes on the false front. Clamp the drawer front in place. Screw the mounting screws into place through the inside of the drawer and partially through the false front. Remove the clamp.
