KitchenAid Artisan Review 2015 - TopTenREVIEWS

This machine comes out of the package with a flat beater used for mixing cake batters and cookie dough; a balloon whisk used for adding some fluff into scrambled eggs and meringues; and a dough hook used for making loaves of bread. This food mixer comes in 29 different color options, meaning it will meet your needs while complementing your kitchen d cor.

This stand mixer comes with a 59-point planetary mixing action. This means the mixing head hits 59 different points of the bowl to ensure that all of your ingredients are completely mixed together. If you've ever bitten into a cookie and got a mouth full of salt you know that this is a great feature to have. Combine that with the slow-start feature, which will start out slowly churning your ingredients and gradually pick up speed so the contents of the mixing bowl don't fly all over your counter, your wall or your face. Your food mixer will weave your ingredients into an artistic culinary delight, and on top of that, it practically cleans up after itself.

The muscle of this kitchen mixer became apparent when we realized that it is equipped with a nine cup flour power. That means this electric mixer will churn a whopping nine cups of flour at one time. No more having to add it in one cup at a time because your old machine couldn't handle the load. We found this to be a great time-saver.

The KitchenAid Artisan also comes equipped with an auto-off function. Chances are that if you are mixing heavy dough such as bread or cookie dough, your stand mixer will get quite a workout. If the motor overheats, your unit could burn up inside and become an expensive paperweight. However, if your stand mixer is equipped with an auto shutoff feature, like the one found on the KitchenAid Artisan, you have nothing to worry about. Once the mixer begins to heat up to potentially damaging temperatures, the unit it will shut itself off. This is an especially important feature when you are engaged in another task and aren't paying close attention to your stand mixer.

There are no plastic pieces used in the construction of these stand mixers, so it's extremely rare for anything in these machines to break. A lesser device might use plastic gears inside the mixer's motor, but KitchenAid doesn't hide any plastic behind a metal fa ade what you see is what you get. That's why they consistently last such an incredibly long time. Further evidence of quality engineering comes in the form of this stand mixer's transmission, which uses a direct drive motion. This means that there is not a pulley system within the unit, which is one less thing that can wear out. Direct drive transmissions are generally found in commercial-grade mixers instead of consumer mixers, which further adds to the durability of the KitchenAid.
