#Cabinet Refinishing

kitchen-cabinet-refinishing-after.jpg

Should I reface or replace my cabinets?

With some refacing projects like this one, you can add new door handles. (Photo courtesy of Angie’s List member Anthony R. of Orlando, Fla.)

Refacing typically consists of covering the exterior surfaces of your cabinets with new veneers, moldings and hardware. If your existing cabinets are solid wood, repainting or refinishing them with a new color of paint or stain can also update their appearance. Some cabinets take well to a deeper stain, whereas others may need nothing more than a fresh coat of paint. Cleaning and refinishing cabinets takes time, but is far less expensive than replacing the cabinets.

Cabinet refacing/refinishing pros:

  • Reduced cost - kitchen cabinet refacing or refinishing can cost approximately 1/3 less than replacing all the cabinets
  • No demolition of existing cabinets is required, which ... Read more »

#Cabinet Wholesalers - 156 Photos - Cabinetry - Anaheim, CA - Reviews

Recommended Reviews

Thank you to Cabinet Wholesalers for a great job on our kitchen remodel in Lake Forest, CA.  The cabinets are beautiful, modern, well-built and very reasonably priced.  We chose to have Cabinet Wholesalers measure, assemble and install the cabinets as well, which allowed us to receive an extended warranty.  Cabinet Wholesalers also installed the cabinet hardware for us.  They also came up with some creative solutions to get our cabinets installed in a timely manner despite the port slowdown.

Cabinet Wholesalers possesses the utmost in customer service, integrity, professionalism, and skill in their craft. A few years back, they remodeled our kitchen and more recently our master bath. Their work was on time and on budget as well as beautiful. For any further home improvements, I could not envision contacting anyone else.

#Change your countertop and upgrade on the cheap!

I recently moved into a rental house. it was completely re-done including the counter-top. the problem, is that the counter top was done so terribly that after a month of normal use it was bubbling at the corner seam pulling from the wall not completely caulked all the way. So with the landlords dime, I requested to re-do this lousy job. He accepted and this is the process.

Step 1: Out with the old!

Step 2: next unscrew the old counter

grab your flashlight and probably a second pair of hands to hold it. and a cordless drill. I didn't take any picks of this process, but basically look inside all the lower cabinets and at the top and each corner you will find a corner brace or something with a screw going up up into the counter-top from underneath.

It should lift right off the Cabinet top. toss outside or re-purpose (in my case) into a shop counter.

Now that Jennifer in The Archers has successfully coerced husband Brian into funding a new kitchen for Home Farm  - by refusing to cook for him until he did - she is splurging on all manner of trendy appliances and materials. The crucial question is, how far should Jennifer go?

Does she really need a boiling/sparkling/still water tap and a steam oven? Does an uber-modern kitchen sit well in an 18th Century farmhouse? Would it add to the property's value should they have to sell?

If she were in London, she should have little fear in splashing out on the kitchen, argues Jonathan Hewlett, head of Savills London Region, Residential.

#Caring for Granite

The way to maintain a countertop

Q: I don't know how to maintain the charcoal-colored granite countertops in our kitchen. I've heard several conflicting suggestions. What would you do?

Suzanne, St. Petersburg, FL

A: Tom Silva replies: We have granite countertops in our kitchen and love them. They really don't take a lot of care. The first thing we did when they were installed was to wipe on a solvent-based sealer called an "impregnator" with a soft cloth. I put on one coat, then waited a day before applying a second coat. You'll probably hear various stories about how long this stuff lasts, but in our house we find it's good for about two years.

Just so you know, a sealer won't make the stone stainproof. It just gives you extra time to clean up whatever you do spill on the countertop. Acidic foods are the worst offenders. Don't use any acidic cleaning products, either, such as a vinegar-based wind ... Read more »
