#A Great Customizable Kitchen Cart (With Drawers! ) for a Small Kitchen Who: Charlie Marshall of The Marshal Where: Manhattan, New York A major feature in Charlie Marshall's small kitchen is his kitchen cart, placed against the far wall. What's notable about this cart is its solid wire construction, butcher block top, and the three pull-out drawers on the top shelf. I don't know of any small kitchen that doesn't need more drawer space, so I had to know the source of this cart. It turns out it's made of customizable components, and from a shelving brand you often find in restaurant kitchens. The brand is Metro. "To me it is the best (and original) modular system," Charlie says. "There are a lot of imitators out there, but Metro has by far has the highest quality. I use the same brand for shelving in my restaurant." Charlie chose this particular combination to help make up for the lack of built-in drawer and counter space in his kitchen, and because he likes to cook buffet-style on occasion. "I can load up and organize the cart and roll it right out to the dining room for service," he says. He bought all the components for his InterMetro cart at The Container Store. "I was able to find the size and finish I wanted and get it put together in an afternoon. The drawers have come in incredibly handy since they more than doubled the drawer space I had before!"
