It is essential to be organized in the kitchen. Cooking can be stressful enough as it is. Who needs the extra frustration of shuffling through cabinets searching for the next ingredient? My wife and I solved our own storage dilemma once and for all by converting all of our lower kitchen cabinets originally outfitted as cabinets with regular doors into cupboards made of drawers. Now finding things couldn't be easier.

We deliberated on the best way to change all this until we finally got the idea of converting all our lower kitchen cabinets into pull-out drawers. Having kitchen cabinets from IKEA made this conversion simple as we just had to invest in some RATIONELL extending drawers. We were able to keep all the original doors intact, by swapping in hinges with a wider door opening angle to give the drawers the freedom to pull out.

This place has potential but does not deliver. As a foodie that really knows a good burger this was not good. It was okay but the meat could have used some spices. The cheese was rubbery and for the price, it just wasn t that great. I m very picky about my burgers. I want them juicy with flavour and great fresh ingredients. GeniCan—a device currently raising money on Indiegogo —attaches to the side of trash cans and scans bar codes as items are being thrown out. After crossing the scanner, the bar codes are cross-referenced against existing UPC codes in a database via a home Wi-Fi network. If an item doesn't have a bar code, it can be held in front of the sensor until prompted by the device with a request for which item should be added.

Once the garbage can is full, the device will send a message to your phone that it is time to empty it. And as the trash piles up, owners can then turn to their accompanying smartphone app to see items being added to their mobile shopping list and, importantly, paired with compatible manufacturer coupons.

12.28.13 I ve struggled with editing this about section for a while. After 7 years or so the Our in Our Studio Kitchen is no longer, or something to that effect. Much of the time in a kitchen is spent at the sink -- washing dishes, rinsing vegetables, filling the teapot. If possible, plan for large windows above your sink. Having windows begin just above the counter creates an illusion that your space and the outdoors are connected. To do this, you will need to know the height of your cabinets -- traditionally 34 1/2 inches -- and the thickness of your countertop -- usually 1 1/2 inches. The window height, therefore, should be set at 37 inches.

To create an even smoother transition to the outdoors, drop your window slightly lower than your counter, add a slate windowsill and fill the area with potted plants, all of which will make it look as though the plants are growing up from behind your sink.

I love Sheila! She is a great kitchen designer. I have an old kitchen with a lot of weird corners. I also wanted all my appliances to be fully integrated, so everything has to be precise to the specs. Sheila is very familiar with custom panels and integrated appliances. She was able to help me design my kitchen to fit my space and fit all my built in appliances. She is very attention to details. Too bad that my project got postponed and I didn t end up buying cabinet from this place. But I m considering this place for my future project.

I called this place to get an idea of how they work and it s obvious that they are an over-glorified Home Depot for cabinets. I think it s because of wicked old El Nino, but we are having mighty weird weather this summer in the Rockies. We seem to be stuck with two extremes: stormy and rainy or blaringly, stickily hot. We Rocky Mountain dwellers aren t used to humidity; we re an arid climate normally almost desert-like. We re the land of chapped lips and bloody noses and scratchy eyeballs.

This summer, we re the land of heavy, wet air. And mosquitoes. Lord, the mosquitoes. Usually, we are so spoiled with our measly mosquito population. Skeeters thrive on wet spring weather, and usually, that means that they don t hang around here. It s awesome. When people on the coasts or in the South complain about being eaten alive, we cluck sympathetically and feel slyly superior. We live in the right place.
