Paint Techniques for Kitchen Cupboards | eHow UK There are different ways to paint your kitchen cabinets. Jupiterimages/Photos.com/Getty Images Remove the cupboard doors by unscrewing the hinges with either a drill or a screwdriver. This will make it easier to paint the doors and ensure even coverage. Clean the cupboards prior to painting so the paint will adhere to the surface. White spirit or a similar product can effectively remove all the dirt and grime that has built up over the years. A fine grit sandpaper can sand off the current layer of paint. After sanding, apply a paint primer with either rollers or a brush. You don t need to paint the inside of the cupboards unless you just want to. A paint sprayer can ensure an even, professional paint finish for the kitchen cupboards. The sprayer should be held several inches away from the cupboards. Surrounding surfaces should be covered in plastic to protect them. Sprayers can be rented at some hardware and home improvement stores. A paint sprayer can also be a suitable way to apply the primer to ensure an even finish. If using a paint sprayer for high volume, the low pressure setting should be used so the paint does not spray all over.
