#Help Me Find a Budget-Friendly Pantry Unit Q: We are moving into a rental home that has no pantry and no coat closet. There is some space for a free-standing shelving unit along one wall, but I don't really want all of our food out in plain view. I also don't want to spend a fortune on a free-standing pantry unit since we aren't going to live here forever. I've tried to get creative with my Google searches, but finding solutions for no pantry isn't as easy as I thought! Any suggestions? Sent by Nikki Editor: Nikki, your question reminded us of this kitchen pantry in a recent Kitchen Cure snapshot: This looks like something that could work for you! It looks like an IKEA shelving unit or wardrobe with a glass door. We really like the semi-opaque glass door, as it helps lighten the look and feel of a kitchen, while still blocking cans and boxes from view. Here's another wardrobe unit from IKEA (there are lots of options!) that is quite budget friendly: Another option is to scavenge Craigslist for a great deal on a kitchen cabinet. You could look for a vintage pie safe, or a Hoosier cupboard. These can be great pieces of furniture in their own right, and while they may function as a pantry for now, they may serve another purpose later in your home. (Image: IKEA)
