Kitchen Ceiling Lighting Ideas | eHow

The right kitchen ceiling lighting will have both functional and aesthetic characteristics. You want the lighting in your kitchen to be bright enough so that you can see what you are doing. On the other hand, many people don t want to have extremely bright lighting in their kitchen because this sort of light sometimes feels too commercial. Finding the right balance between ambiance and functionality is the key to finding the perfect kitchen ceiling lighting.

When you are in the kitchen, chances are you spend a majority of your time in front of the kitchen sink. The kitchen sink is where you wash your hands, dishes, clean up vegetables, and often where you perform work that is messy. Installing halogen lights above the kitchen sink will illuminate the most important workspace in your kitchen, while not overwhelming your entire kitchen with bright lighting.

Country Kitchen Buffet - South Park Archives - Cartman, Stan, Kenny, Kyle

The Country Kitchen Buffet is a restaurant in South Park. Its first appearance was in the episode "Grey Dawn ". It later appeared in the episode "201 ", when it was destroyed by Barbra Streisand .

The Country Kitchen Buffet is a brick building with a sloped roof. It has large square windows typical of a small town diner and large double doors.

Country Kitchen Buffet is known to have several outlets across the state of Colorado. It is extremely popular among senior citizens and is often the first place they go to when they wish to eat. In fact, they are dependent on the restaurants to keep them alive and well, and those who fail to make a routine stop at Country Kitchen Buffet usually die of starvation.

In "Grey Dawn ", senior citizen drivers are caught up in a row when they mow down dozens of Colorado citizens due to their old age and senility. Many of these accidents occurred w ... Read more »

    Kitchen Benchtops Design Ideas

Let’s take a quick look at some kitchen benchtops that have been around for a while and are usually on the top of everyone’s shortlist.

While granite and marble are the original stone benchtops, new contenders include composite quartz and engineered stone benchtops. The essential difference between natural stone (for instance: marble benchtops) and engineered stone benchtops is the artificial colour and mix of agents to help it achieve the natural look while being cut only partially from quartz.

These kitchen benchtops tend to be more durable, but they do scratch and chip under heavy impact and may fade over time.

The best thing about granite benchtops is that you won’t need any coasters or placemats for hot foods. Simply wipe the counter now and then to get them sparkling clean. Granite benchtops are incredibly sturdy and a great choice for busy households. On the downside, since they’re porous, you’ll need to have them sealed ... Read more »

Kitchen Refurbishment – Replace Kitchen Doors - Kitchen Restoration

Kitchens don’t last forever, but parts of them can last for a very long time indeed. In many cases the units themselves can last for decades before they need replacing, so paying out full whack for an entirely new fitted kitchen is often an unnecessary extravagance. The kitchen cupboard doors, drawer fronts and other superficial kitchen elements may on the other hand wear out and look dated long before the units do.

So what do you do? Do you replace the whole lot to deal with this cosmetic issue? Doing so can be pricey and involves a considerable amount of upheaval. Thankfully, Kitchen Restoration have an effective and affordable alternative for you.

We specialise in replacing kitchen doors, which are the main focal point of the kitchen and tend to be the first part to show signs of wear and tear. Making your kitchen refurbishment as simple as possible, we help you keep what’s good and the elements ... Read more »

Colorful Kitchen Clock DIY - A Beautiful Mess

Have you ever just had a project idea in your head that didn t exactly fit your style but you fell in love with it anyway? Yeah. That happened to me recently.

I don t usually make projects with tons of colors. I m just not a heavy color person. If you look in my closet or around my house you d see that it s not exactly a rainbow. I tend to stick to what I would consider safe colors (a.k.a. neutrals). But, I got this idea for a colorful (think color wheel) clock, and I just couldn t get it out of my head. I ve been wanting to make a clock ever since Elsie and Laura made this one. and I realized how simple it can be. After a few months of thinking it over, I decided to take the plunge and just go for something colorful. The end result: I love it! It does stand out as something very different from my usual choices, and I really like that I let myself out of my usual, neutral color box for a little bit. )

#HGTV Ultimate Home Design Review 2015

The HGTV Ultimate Home Design allows you to design a kitchen in three-dimensions, which simulates the actual width, height and depth of the room you are creating so you get a realistic rendering. It also comes with a 3D walk-through that lets you preview your virtual kitchen so that you can see where you need to make changes. In addition, its 3D drag-and-drop tool makes it easy to remove items from the object library and place them in your room. For example, you can drag and drop virtual plants and small appliances and they automatically position themselves on your tables and countertops.

You can enter precise cabinet and appliance dimensions, which is a useful tool if you plan to use your old stove and refrigerator, and you can enter the measurements ahead of time so they fit into the new cabinet scheme. The program operates using both standard and metric measurements.

Free Standing Kitchen Cabinets: Securing the Cabinets Firmly

For those who move house a lot, having free standing kitchen cabinets might be the way out they have for their kitchen furniture problem. Instead of having installed cabinets which could not be moved easily from the wall, the free standing cabinets can be easily transported to one house to another if the circumstances need them to. However, what often comes as a problem is that the cabinets tend to stand less firmly than the installed cabinets. Though they do not exactly run or move by themselves, but it seems that they stand less securely on the floor.

Free Standing Kitchen Cabinets : Anchoring Them to the Floor

In order to secure the free standing kitchen units firmly on the floor, several appliances are needed to be prepared first. Tape measure, handsaw, screws, drill bits, drills, and screwdrivers and some of the things you need to prepare first before ... Read more »

Shelves are made up of a variety of types of materials, and in previous days wooden shelves or smooth fixed shelves were accepted. With the modify in the time, there has been an enormous modify in the material of the shelves and manufacturers have introduced shelves of dissimilar materials. #Hello Kitty Kitchen Appliances Are Taking Over (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

    Amazon

Hello Kitty, the adorable Japanese cartoon brought into the world by Sanrio, has been getting a lot of press lately. The biggest news of late is the introduction of Hello Kitty beer -- yes, I'm serious, and so is Sanrio. The company estimates that Hello Kitty branding is worth about $5 billion a year .

Hello Kitty has always been beloved in the food world, from starring in countless bento box lunches to getting a Futomaki sushi roll made in her likeness. Food and the world's most famous kitten (sorry, Lil' Bub ) have always gotten along pretty well. This week, a press release popped up in our inboxes reminding us that it was almost Hello Kitty slow cooker season. We laughed, joked about Hello Kitty garbage cans and paper towel dispensers and then realized -- great Scott -- every single one of these things existed. Hello Kitty kitchen appliances are very, very real, and if you wanted to, ... Read more »

How to Install Under Cabinet Lighting in Your Kitchen | The Family Handyman

The best time to install wiring for undercabinet lights is during a kitchen remodel, before the walls are covered with drywall. But if you want undercabinet lighting and aren't planning any major renovations, don't despair. The wiring plan we show in this article is designed to work in almost any kitchen, and can be installed without visible damage to the walls. And since we're using the inside of the base cabinets to run wires, you don't even need access to a basement or attic.

The National Electrical Code requires that plastic-sheathed cable (commonly called Romex) be protected in areas where it's subject to abuse. Since we're running the cable in the back of cabinets where pots and pans could bump it, we've chosen to be safe and run the cable inside a flexible steel conduit (called “flex”). We'll show you how to cut and install flex and then how to pull the cable through it. If you can run the pl ... Read more »

What Is a Soup Kitchen? (with pictures) - mobile wiseGEEK

A soup kitchen is an establishment which offers meals to the needy for free or at very low cost. Soup kitchens can be found catering to the poor and needy all over the world, and many also offer a variety of other support services to their patrons. In many instances, visitors to a soup kitchen do not need to meet any eligibility requirements, with meals being offered to all without question.

The soup kitchen concept dates to the 1700s, when religious charities first began providing the poor in their districts with free, highly nutritious food which often took the form of soup and bread. In the 1800s, the soup kitchen concept spread widely, with many soup kitchens generating tickets which could be purchased by charities and distributed through their offices and agents. In the mid-1800s, soup kitchens experienced a decline, due to changing ideas about poverty and welfare. but with the Great Depression, the concept was ... Read more »

How to Store Everything in the Kitchen

Your soup-to-nuts guide to how to store everything in your kitchen. Got a tip? Add it to the Kitchen Time Savers and you may see it included in this guide.

    How to store appliances. Photo/Getty

Like most items, deciding how to store kitchen appliances is a decision made based on their size and shape, but also how often you use them. My advice:

    • Store appliances you use daily on the counter
    • Store appliances you use weekly in bottom cabinets
    • Store appliances you rarely use in a storage space.

Decorating Ideas for Kitchen Walls | eHow

Walls filled with antique kitchen gadgets can lend a touch of nostalgia to your kitchen. They make great conversation pieces while having coffee with friends. You can start your hunt at local flea markets and yard sales. Old rolling pins and flour sifters look great hung on walls. You can pick up some very ornate egg beaters and hang them in your kitchen. A grouping of old cutlery and cheese graters can be hung to look like modern art. Small shelves can be affixed to the walls to hold items that can't be hung on their own. Old milk bottles filled with colored water and displayed on shelves give splashes of color to match your decor. Old washboards are easy to find and even easier to hang. A kitchen filled with the things your ancestors used for home cooking delights can be a reminder of how much easier things are today.

How to Design a Kitchen Island (5 Steps) | eHow

Measure out your kitchen, and allow at least three feet from your cabinets to where you would like your island to begin. This is a minimum. A preferred distance is actually four feet.

    Function:

Once you have your dimensions for the island, decide what the function of the island will be. Will you house a microwave inside the island? Studies show that below-counter microwaves are really a lot safer than above-counter microwaves because of the danger of spilling when removing hot objects from above. Will this be a 'baking center' with a marble or granite top, or will this be a warm family gathering place? Is this an island with a sink in it? Will this be a prep sink or the main sink?

New appliance designs, such as Sub Zero refrigerator or freezer drawers, can be conveniently tucked into any area, including a kitchen island. Just make sure you have clearance for opening and closing doors.

How Do I Choose the Best Pine Kitchen Cabinets?

    12,16,15,13,8,17,10,7,14,9

Pine kitchen cabinets are a popular choice amongst homeowners and contractors alike. Natural pine wood is light in color, though pine can also be stained to a darker hue. Selecting pine kitchen cabinets that are right for your home and budget is really a matter of choosing a reliable manufacturer.

Since pine wood has many knots, it is best to choose your pine kitchen cabinets in-person. Make sure that you like the look of the pine cabinets you select, and check each cabinet as it is delivered to your home -- some cabinets may not look like all the rest. In addition to the overall look of pine, this wood is largely cost-effective.

When you begin to look for pine kitchen cabinets, you will find that prices differ greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer. This is largely due to the quality of pine wood that manufacturers use. Southern pine wood is highly prized for its color and durabil ... Read more »

I can t screw the thing back in as there isn t enough wood left in the side panel to hold the screw.

I can t move the hinge as this would involve cutting a new circular hole in the back of the door (which sounds like a nightmare).

I was thinking of plugging the hole in the side panel with some polyfilla or something more substantial, letting it dry and then re-screwing the door in.

    Any advice appreciated.

Let me know if the above doesn t make sense or you need more info.

#High Style Kitchen Mats and Rugs

Most kitchens are large expanses of flooring and cabinetry that be they gorgeous or hideous are silently crying out for character, identity or (in the hideous case) distraction. A kitchen mat or rug can be the perfect place to start. Not only will a rug bring personality to your space, it will also add comfort and warmth to an area full of hard surfaces.

That said, there are several things to think about when buying a rug for the kitchen:

Traffic - Kitchens are notoriously high traffic areas. You will need a rug that is safe, durable and easy to clean.

Size Shape - The size and shape of the rug you buy will depend upon the size and shape of your kitchen, and where you intend to use it within the space. If you’re looking for a mat to go in front of the sink only, a 2’ x 3’ rug works nicely. If you have a galley kitchen, a runner is a good bet. If you have an eat-in kitchen, something like a ... #Help Me Find a Budget-Friendly Pantry Unit

Q: We are moving into a rental home that has no pantry and no coat closet. There is some space for a free-standing shelving unit along one wall, but I don't really want all of our food out in plain view. I also don't want to spend a fortune on a free-standing pantry unit since we aren't going to live here forever.

I've tried to get creative with my Google searches, but finding solutions for no pantry isn't as easy as I thought! Any suggestions?

    Sent by Nikki

Editor: Nikki, your question reminded us of this kitchen pantry in a recent Kitchen Cure snapshot:

This looks like something that could work for you! It looks like an IKEA shelving unit or wardrobe with a glass door. We really like the semi-opaque glass door, as it helps lighten the look and feel of a kitchen, while still blocking cans and boxes from view.

Here's another wardrobe unit from IKEA ... Read more »

#High Power LED Under Cabinet Lighting DIY - Great looking and BRIGHT @ only 23w!

First off, let me explain that High Power LEDs should probably read High Intensity LEDs . By my calculations this whole setup uses about 23w of electricity.

Anyways, after getting new kitchen cabinets and getting a nice shiny granite counter top installed it was time to get some truly impressive under-cabinet lights that would complement the design I was aiming for while being wonderfully functional as well.

This instructable is going to show you how I created my DIY under cabinet lighting for less than $120 and yet achieved professional results better than every commercially available system I was able to see in person.

This is a true DIY system, not a guide on how to install a commercially available system. So before starting, know that while I think this should be considered an easy project some basic skills are required such as being comfortable ... Read more »

New Kitchen Designs with Nanotechnology | InteriorHolic.com

Ernestomeda, the market leader in designer kitchens of high-end class, introduced a new model Soul and a new layout model of Icon at the kitchen exhibition Eurocucina 2014, held in the framework of the Milan furniture exhibition I Saloni. The designs of the both kitchens were created by a talented designer Giuseppe Bavuso.

    Soul kitchen by Ernestomeda

Soul concept is a mixture of modern design trends with vintage elements. The new fitted kitchen has a modern character, but the style and materials are borrowed from the past. One example of such a combination is a close coupled sink, which can be made of steel materials ICONcrete and Corian ®, and may also have a new finish of Piasentina Stone, Brown Chocolate Stone and Santafiora Stone, reminiscent of the trays for drainage, once found in gardens of suburban villas.

When developing a new model, the Ernestomeda collaborated with Molteni Vern ... Read more »

Kitchen Kraft - Contractors - Brewery District - Columbus, OH - Reviews - Photos - Yelp

I hired Kitchen Kraft to remodel my only bathroom in July 2014.  I met with a designer who was very patient and asked a lot of questions about my needs.  He put tougher a beautiful design which flowed with the rest of my home.  Even though he created tons of storage my favorite feature is the glass tiled shower.  It is my new favorite spot.  The price was fair for the amount of work that was needed and all of pricing and contracts were clearly explained.

Al Deen, the Bathroom remodel specialist visited my home and I explained the basic remodel project we wanted a bid on.  The budget was thoroughly communicated - and that the project was going to be a basic remodel as we plan on selling the property in less than 1 year.   I was very specific on the design I wanted, already having spent significant time researching material, fixture and labor costs as well as forecasting preliminary projec ... How to install handles on kitchen cabinets drawers | eHow UK

Use a drilling template to mount kitchen cabinet knobs correctly.

    David Sacks/Lifesize/Getty Images

With a little online help, most DIY homeowners are capable of installing their own kitchen cabinets, but incorrectly positioned or misaligned door and drawer handles can spoil the entire installation. Install your wall cabinet pulls within reach of all household members. Position upper and lower handles close to the edges to provide maximum leverage while opening and closing doors. For a finishing touch, use a cabinet hardware drilling template to line up your door and drawer handles in a perfectly straight line across the width of the kitchen.

Select the best door handle or single knob position. Place a kitchen hardware drilling template over the lower corner opposite the hinges on a wall cabinet door. Choose the most aesthetically pleasing position that supplies adequate leverage while opening and ... Read more »

What Are Modular Kitchen Cabinets? | eHow

Whether they are small kitchen cabinets in an apartment or an office break room, or a large custom kitchen in a home, kitchen cabinets store the items and groceries that you need to have to cook meals and enjoy time with family. There are two main types of kitchen cabinets -- modular kitchen cabinets, which are also sometimes referred to as semi-custom kitchen cabinets, and custom kitchen cabinets. Custom cabinets are purpose-built from scratch for a specific job. Modular or semi-custom kitchen cabinets, on the other hand, have some different characteristics.

Modular cabinets may be pre-built or they may come in knocked-down form and require some assembly, but they are made to fit together. This means that you can pick any style of cabinet and they should automatically fit snugly next to any other type or style of cabinet of the same make. Cabinets can be built beforehand and stored until they are needed by a customer.
