The Kitchen Utensil Holder Utensil Canister. Chris Adams, copyright 2009, Licensed to About.com An ergonomic kitchen is one that has efficient storage of all the equipment you need. Cabinets provide storage for bulky items like pots and pans. Drawers provide storage for all those flat utensils you need to make the perfect dinner. But where do you stick those bulky utensils? A utensil canister is a great ergonomic solution for storing those bulky utensils and provides quick and easy access to your most used kitchen tools. But there are some guidelines you should follow. Do not overfill the utensil canister. If more than one item comes out when you pull on your utensil then it is stuffed to tight. If you have to fight with it every time you want a tool you ll loose all your efficiency and generate a lot of frustration. Keep some space around the utensil canister. You do not want to knock anything when you grab a utensil. Also make sure there is enough head room to retrieve your utensils. Make sure the utensil canister is deep enough for the tools you will keep in it. It should be at least 2/3rds the height of the utensils you want to keep in it. This will ensure nothing tips out, especially top heavy, bulky utensils. Be selective about what goes in the utensil canister. Do not throw everything in it, only the items that need to be there. So what should go into your utensil canister?
