Nigella Kitchen offers mouthwatering recipes and a dash of parody | Metro News TV review: It s lucky the recipes in Nigella Lawson’s new series looked delicious and simple because the pretence that she loves to knock up a roast seafood dinner immediately after work was a little harder to stomach. Nigella Kitchen: Nigella strikes a pose with her peanut butter cheesecake (BBC) The first episode of the domestic goddess’ new series saw her preparing salami pasta and a peanut butter cheesecake, among other dishes, but it’s best to check the website for the recipes – you may have missed them while Nigella was purring seductively for the umpteenth time. There was a hint of a Dead Ringers sketch about the whole thing as smooth jazz tinkled away in the background and the curvaceous cook told us I need to disrobe . Viewers marvelled as Nigella waltzed into the kitchen in a slinky black robe for an apparent naughty midnight snack . Male members of the audience attempted to convince the other half they were genuinely interested in the best recipe for Thai chicken noodle soup as our hostess breathily sighed and kicked her shoes off. And as Nigella promised maximum flavour for minimum effort , millions muttered we don’t all have a Waitrose around the corner and a cavernous, OCD-neat pantry . Thankfully, she steered clear of the cutesy storytelling Sophie Dahl chose to add to the ‘posh totty recipes’ genre and if you can take the style with a pinch of salt, there’s an excellent cookery show within. Nigella offered tips for safe seafood preparation and provided a helpful narrative for every recipe that meant you can aspire to being a domestic deity, even in your cramped kitchen.
