Outdoor Kitchen Cabinets

When you decide to install an outdoor kitchen, the choice of outdoor kitchen cabinets, appliances, and seating will be dependent upon what size kitchen you are planning to install as well as other factors.

Outdoor cabinets are ideal for storing all your grilling tools and utensils.

No longer will you need to run back and forth in doors to get the items you need.

There are 5 main types of cabinets from which you can choose

First, the virtues of stainless steel will be examined. This is a great material for outdoor kitchen cabinets because the type used in these cabinets is 304 stainless steel. This type is highly resistant to staining and rusting.

Another number this stainless steel goes by is 18-8 and A2. The stainless steel is made two different ways. One is to use a core material which the steel is wrapped around. The other does not use anything in the middle.

It is just a matter of using the steel itself to make the cabinet parts. Regardless of the way it is used, steel is a very durable material which is one reason it is used in outdoor cabinets.

Polymer is another material often used in outdoor cabinets. What is polymer? It is a synthetic material and the best description would be plastic.

The HDPE or high density polyethylene is a durable material because it is not subject to deterioration from the outside elements. It will not rust nor rot.

The type used on outdoor cabinets is the same type used in the technology which is used to make boats. A marine grade polymer, it will not fade or deteriorate from the sun because it has inhibitors which resist the UV rays of the sun.

Another material which can be used to make your outdoor kitchen cabinets is wood. This will be fine to use as long as it is the right type of wood. It also has to have been properly treated or finished to resist the weather.

The different types of wood which are used outdoors for these cabinets are teak, cypress, and ipe. These are also materials that are used by marine applications.

These types of wood are used because they are naturally resistant to the weather. Some cabinets get an oil or water seal before being used outdoors so they have more protection against Mother Nature.

One material that many people prefer to use when installing outdoor cabinets is masonry. These types of cabinets are framed with cement blocks or they are made using a metal frame on the inside and covered with stone or brick.

Some people even use a stucco veneer. This is when cement board or some other type of base is attached to the frame and a veneer is applied.

These are more expensive than the other types of outdoor cabinets simply because the others are normally ready made and these types have to be assembled more on site than the other types.

The main thing to remember is most outdoor kitchen cabinets will require some assembly on site. The work required to finish them will depend upon the type of material that you are using.
