#Pink In the Kitchen: Color Inspiration for Cooks

When thinking about kitchen accessories and color, pink is not the first thing that comes to mind. It can be aggressively girly, over-the-top vintage, or shockingly bright. But lately we've seen some pink kitchens that make us wonder if there's just a little pink in our culinary future after all. It can be a wonderful color for a cook: it can bathe your entire kitchen in a warm, soft, relaxing light that creates warmth and coziness. And who doesn't want to cook in a space like that?

Here are a few pink kitchens that we've spotted here at Apartment Therapy and elsewhere, as well as some ideas for adding pink to your kitchen in more subtle ways.

Here are the links for the photos pictured above.

1 Relaxed kitchen - at Living Etc. This is the first kitchen that made us go, hmm. Maybe pink isn't so bad? This pink-grey color is deeply soothing and gentle. It is just modern enough for us too, with those ash countertops. This looks like a wonderful place to cook.

2 Alicia's Spicy Black, White, and Pink - from our series of 10 Things I Love. Pink goes so well with black. especially in a retro or vintage-inspired kitchen like Alicia's.

3 House Call: Paul's Niagara Falls Home - Here's another vintage look for the kitchen, but in a more mid-century home. As cooks, we're so taken by the warm glow here.

4 Pink kitchen cabinet interior - You can get a similar warm glow in your kitchen without going all-out; just paint the back of a cabinet. We really love this one from Laure in LA.

5 Pink and red together - This photo from Marie Claire Maison really shows how modern pink can be. We love the little eating nook and vintage pieces, but it also all feels very contemporary.

6 Hot pink walls! - This kitchen is very bold, with a color inspired by the owner's trips to Cameroon. We love the idea of grabbing a color (like hot pink) from a locale we love and painting our walls to match. It might be too much for some, but travel can be a great inspiration.

7 Hot pink accessories - If the previous kitchen is just a bit too much, Sean and Holly show how you can have some bright pops of pink without overwhelming your kitchen.

8 Christine's Colorful Budget Cottage - Wow - whimsy and almost childlike pink here in Christine's cottage. It feels like bubblegum pop.

9 Christine's Cottage - Another shot of Christine's kitchen.

10 Drawer lining - At Living Etc. If the whimsy of Christine's cottage is just too much for you, why not draw in just a little secret pink instead, with these drawer liners. Our drawers need a good cleaning and a lining; maybe this is the place to inject some color.

11 Retro Pink - At Living Etc. Another modern yet vintage look. The color reminds us of a 1950s show home, but the clean lines and tranquility feel very modern.

12 Pretty Pink - So girlish, yet with some tough edges. The concrete floor and glossy cabinets keep this pink space feeling mod.

13 Sherbet accessories - And if both of those kitchens are still too frilly-pink, try vintage-style enameled tools like these. We love vintage enamel in the kitchen for its sturdy functionality as well its good looks.

14 Candy-Coated Tile - If you want just a hint of pink, what about mixing it into your tile, like these candy-like kitchen tiles .

15 Lisa Marie's Antiques - And of course, perhaps the best way to add just a little pink to your kitchen is through a KitchenAid mixer - a masterpiece of functionality, and a little color, all at the same time!
